NetZero Collective hosts successful tenant engagement session with ForHousing

NetZero Collective took part in a face-to-face tenant engagement session last month aimed at raising awareness of decarbonisation retrofit with ForHousing tenants in Salford, Greater Manchester.

The event also showcased design concepts of how the ForHousing homes will look once the retrofit scheme, which will also include kitchen extensions and refurbishments, is completed

Representatives from manufacturers whose products will be used in the retrofit scheme also attended to showcase their products. Vaillant, who design and manufacture air source heat pumps, brought along an air source heat pump demonstration trailer where ForHousing tenants could get hands on experience of the heat pump technology, see types of radiators available, and ask questions to Vaillant’s heat pump experts.

Sunamp, a leading designer and manufacturer of thermal batteries also joined the event to showcase and demonstrate their innovative technology which will be used in place of a cylinder due to space constraints within the bungalows.

The aim of the session was to answer the resident’s queries about the scheme and how the retrofit works may affect them in terms of new technology, possible fuel bill savings, and how the programme will be delivered to minimise disruption.

The event was a huge success with ForHousing tenants engaging in the retrofit scheme and providing positive feedback. Some raised concerns that they had read that heat pumps didn’t work as well as fossil fuel gas boilers, but once they had had the chance to feel the heat emitting from the radiators in the demonstrator trailer, all provided by a Vaillant heat pump, they were happy that the technology was up to the job.

NetZero Collective and ForHousing are working collaboratively with property services provider Liberty to deliver the retrofit scheme which includes 63 bungalows in Salford. The scheme will cut bills and lower carbon emissions, providing a better quality of living for residents both now and in the future.
