Homes in Sedgemoor join the NetZero Collective

Homes in Sedgemoor (HiS) is an Arm’s Length Management Organisation responsible for delivering housing management, maintenance and community services for just under 4,000 properties on behalf of Sedgemoor District Council.

Our homes consist of a variety of construction types and HiS is carrying out ongoing work to increase energy efficiency and tackle fuel poverty. Our recent programmes of investment have involved the installation of a number of Air Source heating systems, a 5 year programme of External Wall Insulation, as well as the ongoing installation of a Ground Source Heat Pump to a block of 81 flats. Our significant programmes of loft and cavity wall insulation have helped to resolve issues with condensation, damp and high fuel bills.

We are excited for the opportunity to be part of the NetZero Collective and work with other like-minded organisations across the UK to make a positive impact on reducing carbon emissions.

We are committing five properties to the programme, and hope to explore the range of options available for increasing energy efficiency while creating a future plan for the homes we manage. Customer involvement and feedback is key to the service we provide, and so we are looking forward to having a positive impact on social value through education and events, while comparing data with other organisations and being able to share learning.

I am delighted that Homes in Sedgemoor and Sedgemoor District Council are participating in this initiative. The findings will be invaluable in helping define our decarbonisation strategy and make the homes we manage more energy efficient and cheaper to run for our customers.” – Peter Hatch, Chief Executive, Homes in Sedgemoor
